Travel Day: Long Layovers in ORD

Andrew and I had a flashback to 2019 when we were in ORD for an inordinately long time. Luckily today we have a couple United Lounge passes so we can spend the time relaxing in the lounge. I'm working on getting this blog up and together to more easily document our travel as we do it - because once we get home, I always fall behind with sharing photos and remembering things!

I never get tired of watching airplanes!

Convinced Andrew to take a photo of me :)

We still have several hours to go through and while I think I've figured out a good editing/posting setup between Google Photos and Blogger, we will see how it goes.

Our flight to Auckland will be in premium economy - I'm really looking forward to the added legroom and space to help us sleep and hopefully avoid being too jet lagged. We have half a day in Wellington after we arrive, and then the following full day - I want to make sure we get to explore as much as possible before we are off to the rest of our stops.

This trip, we are just transiting through Auckland. Our first stop is Wellington, and then we fly up to Rotorua and drive up to the Coromandel Peninsula to stay at an awesome Bed and Breakfast that features a huge telescope and amazing dark skies. We are there for two nights, and then we drive back down to Matamata where we will have a Hobbiton breakfast, and then spend some time in Taupo.

That concludes our North Island exploration, and we fly south to Christchurch. We are there just one night, and then we leave and head south to Dunedin, Tekapo, Te Anau, and Queenstown. On the planned excursion list is hopefully finding a place we can rent a bike for at least a little (you know me!) as well as bungee jumping, glow worm cave exploring, and visiting Doubtful Sound for a day cruise.

I know this trip is going to be super packed and exhausting but I also know its unlikely we will make it back anytime soon - but I'm just so excited to be headed to NZ again.
